Everyday Life Personal Ramblings

New Year, New Blog Post

I struggle with concentration, and if I have more than one thing to do at a time, I begin to feel overwhelmed. I become consumed by that sinking feeling, much like trying to tread water and unfortunately I get nowhere fast. Much as I would like to think I can multi-task, I can’t. The closest I actually get to multi-tasking is putting the washing machine on while I go off and do something else and that’s as far as it goes. Ian says I have the attention span of a goldfish, and I think he’s being generous with that description. As soon as something shiny comes along…. I’m lost; which explains why I haven’t blogged since October. I felt like I was spinning too many plates, so something had to give. Also, probably like a lot of bloggers in the early days, I was struggling to see where my blog was heading. What I should have done was just push through and continued to enjoy what I was doing rather than thinking too much into it. Because once that happened, I became frozen with fear about what to post. We all know that feeling, right?!

After finally taking some time to get myself organised, I started to feel the need to write again. But rather than writing a gazillion different blog posts, I’ve decided to post a collage that covers some of the things that I’ve been up to since my last post.

In September, one of the big things we decided on was to do the house up and sell it. Yay! It’s been a long time coming and we’re not quite sure where we’re going yet, but the main thing is we’ve taken the first steps. Over the next couple of months once the decorating is done, I’ll be posting before and after photos; hopefully my City & Guilds in Interior Design won’t have gone to waste after all!

I’ve finally been spending the time needed on my

craft shop. I first opened it on Etsy a couple of years ago, but only started taking it more seriously last year. I have lots of ideas for it over the coming months so organisation is going to be important! Something I haven’t sorted out yet is a blog; it’s on my February to do list so hopefully it should be up and running soon. I have however, finally opened a shop on Folksy as well. I studied printmaking for my A-levels (a loooooong time ago) and I’m really enjoying getting back to my roots so to speak. I’ve been printing wrapping paper and it’s been going pretty well; Ian bought me a lino cutting set for Christmas which I only got to grips with this morning – I can’t believe I waited so long to get back into it!

After deliberating for many months about volunteering, I finally started volunteering at the Cats Protection last October. I’d had the overwhelming urge to give something back but I wasn’t sure what to do. I love cats almost as much as this girl, so when Ian saw an advert for volunteers, it was a no brainer; I had to do it. Once a week I go in and cuddle some cats – otherwise known as cat cuddling or cat socialising. Technically, I spend time with them and help get them ready for rehoming.

So, in a nutshell, since my last post, that’s some of the stuff I’ve been up to. And since my goldfish brain is kicking in and my attention span is finally starting to waver, I best leave it here, as I think I’ve done well to get this far……
